A broad social program, the ODSP covers employment and income support, transition child benefits, and health and disability benefits. In the latter area, ODSP provides assistance with costs related to health, dental, and vision. It also covers assistive devices and prescription drugs, as well as other expenses that arise from medical conditions and disability.
Within the dental sector, eligible participants and their spouses are able to receive basic dental services, as well as those that relate to a specific disability’s impact on oral health. Minors under the age of 18 are automatically provided care through the Healthy Smiles Ontario initiative. In addition, dependents over the age of 18 may be able to enroll in Ontario Works and receive dental coverage as part of discretionary benefits.
